Qualifications

A married couple, we both make our living by the written word. Howard Daniel is an award-winning writer and editor. Sandra Kelley is a college English professor, specializing not only in writing, but also reading comprehension and time-management and organizational skills. Following is a brief outline of our relevant experience:

 

Howard Daniel:

• Currently:

  • Vice President, Editorial Services, Communications Pacific (Hawaii's leading integrated communications firm, offering public relations, community-building, marketing, advertising and interactive communications services)
• Previously:
  • Publications Manager, Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. (One of Hawaii's top five companies, involved in transportation, real estate and food products)
  • Speechwriter for former Hawaii Governor John Waihee
  • Foreign Service Officer, U.S. Information Agency (served in USSR, Brazil, Japan, Washington, D.C.; previously served in India as a Peace Corps volunteer)
• Engaged primarily in writing and editing since 1994
• Engaged in public relations/public diplomacy, with significant component of writing and editing, since 1971
• Past president of Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Hawaii Chapter (2002)
• Accredited in Public Relations (APR – professional designation earned in 1993)

• Familiarity with foreign languages (Russian, Portuguese, Hindi) has contributed to strength as writer/editor in English
